LEAP Housing is a Boise-based nonprofit who believes all people deserve an opportunity to access a safe, stable and affordable home. LEAP’s mission is to develop and preserve affordable housing while providing empowering services that lead to greater housing stability.

LEAP accomplishes its mission in five ways:

1. Operation of a temporary housing program as a soft landing.

2. Connection of renters to home buying resources.

3. Research on affordable housing trends and solutions.

4. Development and management of affordable housing.

5. Preservation of existing affordable housing.

LEAP believes all people should have the opportunity to access safe, stable and affordable housing. We hope to create and steward equitable housing solutions and services that strengthen and include members of the community. We strive to respond to culture, honor humanity and balance power in our delivery of housing solutions, services and practices. LEAP provides equal professional service without regard to the race, color, religion, gender (sex), disability (handicap), familial status, national origin, sexual orientation or gender identity of any prospective client, customer, employee, or of the residents of any community.

Here’s some of what we’re up to and striving for at LEAP:

• Creating opportunities for income limited individuals to gain generational wealth through homeownership.

• We recognize the power of language to create division or build community so we created a language guide. This directs our collective voice in a way that is inclusive, respectful and person-first.

• Using Affirmative Fair Housing Marketing to identify and market to those least likely to apply for housing—including people with disabilities, people of color and minorities.

• Translating instructional materials and presentations into various languages such as Swahili, Arabic, Spanish and Kinyarwanda.

• Creating linguistically appropriate experiences by ensuring interpretation is available.

• Providing comfortable, beautiful temporary housing for people arriving through refugee resettlement.

• Create economic opportunities for income limited persons through contracting practices and outreach (HUD Section 3).
